Bio

I received my MS and BS in Mathematics and IT from the Kuban State University in Russia and worked in Database Administrating and Business Intelligence development for over 7 years before returning to school to obtain MS in Analysis of Financial Statements, Internal Operations, and Risk Management from Baruch College (CUNY, NY).

The City University of New York (CUNY) recruited me right after college for a Financial Analyst position. I have been with CUNY for more than 8 years and held various roles within 2 major accounting departments in the Controller’s Office: Revenue Management and Financial Reporting.

In the past, as an Assistant Controller for Revenue Accounting I was the University’s lead on the Student Financials module of the CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft) ERP system ensuring that all financial aid and bursar related transactions follow the University’s policies.  Currently, as the University Assistant Controller I oversee GL, AR, Asset Management and Lease Administration modules in CUNYfirst.

I serve as a liaison for the University’s year-end audit. I supervise preparation of audit reports, tax returns, corrective actions, and activities to discover discrepancies or potential noncompliance issues. I work closely with internal auditors to improve effectiveness of internal controls in the University’s ERP system.
