I've been in education for roughly 25 years in total, starting as a high school and college English teacher, then spending 12 wonderful years as an academic advisor and student life skills instructor at Miami Dade College (MDC). I was first introduced to PeopleSoft in 2016 when I joined MDC's implementation project. I learned (and continue to learn) PeopleSoft “on-the-fly” while building the college's academic advisement setup (AAR's, milestones, etc.) from scratch. Together with the small team that oversaw the academic advisement module for the college, I collaborated daily with our student records and enrollment staff, faculty, academic advisors, and others to create and maintain our academic requirements and assist in graduation.
Beginning in 2023, I started a new position at the University of Miami, working in the IT department with PeopleSoft, EAB Navigate, and HighPoint Campus Experience. Nowadays I'm the liaison between various academic personnel and our technical team. I assist our end users by troubleshooting our Navigate integration and HighPoint configuration, and I occasionally provide support with tasks related to records and enrollment.
Being a part of HEUG has been a wonderful experience--not only because I've learned so much about PeopleSoft, but because I've met so many great people from across the globe. I'm an especially big fan of the Academic Advisement Coffee Hours and the HEUG Happy Hours! When I'm not at work, my favorite hobbies are photography, bird watching, and generally enjoying the outdoors as much as possible.
