HEUG Mentoring Program

The HEUG Mentoring Program (HMP) will match mentees with more experienced mentors that hold leadership roles in their own institutions and HEUG community. With engagement between leaders and professionals, HMP will create opportunities for advancement in HEUG and generate increased interest in careers within higher education, by providing guidance and direction to support the mentoring relationship.  Additionally, HMP is designed to encourage reverse mentorship where mentees will share their knowledge of higher education trends, hot topics, and ideas for innovation within the higher education sector.

  LEARN

Go into this with real expectations. The HMP is designed to last nine-months. During this time, mentors will share their knowledge and personal experiences during bi-monthly communications. Mentoring partners should focus on career-specific goals.

The HMP is designed to benefit both the mentor and mentee partners!

As a mentor partner there is a renewal in enthusiasm for the role of mentor, while enhancing coaching, listening and modeling skills. Mentoring also increases generational awareness by providing the opportunity to advance perspective on professional and personal issues.

As a mentee partner there is a greater understanding of what is required of the mentee to growing professionally, while demonstrating strengths, potential and improving their ability to express their own realistic expectations, goals and concerns related to their career path.
